Start with Why?

Welcome, and thanks for visiting! Jordan Pring is my name, Intensive Care Paramedic and founder of AED Ready.

To kick off the blog, I thought it would be useful to start with ‘why’ - an approach shamelessly adopted from ‘Start with Why’ a book by Simon Sinek.

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) or defibrillators in general combined with excellent quality CPR, are 2 things that are absolutely critical for surviving a cardiac arrest. Thankfully, AEDs are increasing in popularity and availability, and CPR is easy when you know how.

AEDs have traditioally been big, expensive, and cumbersome, reserved only for hospitals and ambulance services. Times have definetly changed; AEDs are now compact, relatively cheap, and super easy to use.

I am passionate about: 1. People having quick access to an AED and 2. People understanding how to use them, in combination with CPR. My passion is born from seeing the result of early defibrillation in cardiac arrest - people returning home to loved ones. Nothing is more exhilerating, more rewarding, than meeting someone who you saw days earlier who was clinically dead. It’s a hell of a buzz, and I want to share it around!

My mission is to arm people with the right AED, and ensure they are confident in using it. It really is that simple.

The future looks bright for AEDs, particularly in my home state of South Australia. Let’s explore this in a future post.

Let’s get ready!
