Nation Leading Legislative Changes Coming to SA
Starting January 1, 2026, commercial properties in South Australia that meet certain parameters outlined in the Automated External Defibrillators (Public Access) Act 2022 will require at least 1 Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to be available in their facility. This move is part of a broader push to improve community health and safety, specifically targeting the response to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) incidents.
South Australia is leading the nation in regards to AED prevelance and accessibility. AED Ready are very proud to operate right here in SA and help ensure that not only are South Australians armed with these life saving devices, but confident in their readiness and ability to apply them.
There is no question in my mind that the rest of Australia will be watching and eventually follow suite with similar legislation. When we look to the places in the world where cardiac arrest suriviability is high, King County in Washington for example, a common denominator is AED prevalance and accessibiilty. This legislation ensures that SA takes another forward step towards being one of the safest places in the world to live and thrive.
